>> Tom Webb (Trainer) – Thursday 6:30 Boxing, Friday 3:30 Boxing

As a kid I knew I wanted to take up boxing.  I entered a boxing gym for the first time while working as a pianist at the Aspen Music Festival in 1983. I continued to train, spar and compete and to teach the sport to others.  My dream was to own a boxing ring and in 2001 in opened the Brookings-Harbor Fight Club in Brookings, OR.

In 2005, I moved to Portland and discovered Sweet Science and, to this day, I am proud to call it my boxing home (I also train in Australia several times a year).  I welcome anyone who will take that first step through the gym doors and enter into a new challenge.

>> Laurie Gold (Owner/Trainer) – Tuesday 6:30 Boxing,  Tue/Thur 5:30 Conditioning

I started boxing in the year 2000.  The gym I was attending in Tampa, FL had a new program taught by an actual boxing trainer and I was quickly addicted to the workout. In 2003, I began teaching at the fitness facility at the local university, where I discovered I enjoyed teaching as much as training.

Upon moving to Portland in 2006, finding a new boxing gym was my first priority and I came across Sweet Science Boxing. In March 2007. a group of members purchased the gym. In July 2010, I was able to become full owner and enhance the offerings at the gym.  Come see what we are all about . It’s really a place like no other.

>> Aurora Martin (Trainer) – Wednesday 6:30 Boxing, Sunday 4:30 Yoga

From the moment I first walked into Sweet Science in early 2008, I knew I’d found someplace I belonged.  Aside from the obvious health benefits (the occasional black eye or bloody nose aside), what I love most about boxing are the less tangible benefits: learning to push yourself to your mental and physical limits, discovering things about yourself you didn’t know were there to be discovered, and making friends based on a unique shared experience. In addition to teaching a weekly boxing class, I also lead a yoga class aimed at complementing the physical conditioning of boxing. I am continuing my yoga training in various capacities.

>>Tony Spencer (Trainer) – Sunday 3:00 Boxing

I started boxing for exercise and to keep in shape in 1989, Ive always been a huge boxing fan and in 1997 joined the Kelso Boxing Club. I boxed in several amateur events and boxed in two Golden Gloves tournaments. Since then I’ve taken my USA Boxing coaching class and referee class, Ive also been a judge at some events too. Since then I’ve become a avid runner and have done a half marathon and run 10 and 5k’s but still love to spar and hit the bag.  I really enjoy coming to Sweet Science and look forward to passing on my training experience.

>>Bjorn Chambless (Trainer)Monday 6:30 Boxing
