Boxing Classes in Portland

Level 2 - Rookie Boxing  60 min; DAYS & TIMES VARY: SCHEDULE OR CALENDAR ​      skill: Beginner+   1st time? BOOK HERE

Feel great after Intro to Boxing, but not quite ready for Boxing Workout or need skill set review?  Had Boxing classes recently elsewhere and need a refresher? Try this next level skills boxing class to refine punches, get better at mitts and start learning punch, movement and counter punching drills.  If you wish to take Rookie Boxing as your first class, please be honest about your skill set! If you are unsure, register for Intro to Boxing.  Boxers with previous training agree that Intro to Boxing is a review essential!

Level 4 - Super Boxing    90min; Saturday @10:00am   skill: Intermediate +  

Ready to take Boxing Workout up a notch?  This intense workout involves 50% more training, including longer intervals, circuits, conditioning elements, defense drills and some sparring. Not suitable for beginners or relatively new boxers; dial in your training via Boxing Workout and set your goals for Super Boxing! (Note: Super Boxing is not offered as a first class choice, thanks.)

Boxing Classes - 5 levels

Intro to Boxing & Rookie Boxing Require Pre-booking. ​​All other classes are Drop In with paid dues or one time class fee. ALL NEW BOXERS MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE. Please arrive 15 minutes early to secure a spot. Class capacity is 25 students (intro to boxing and non-boxing class limit  is 12). Late arrivals discouraged and will not be admitted if class is full.  

Level ​1 - ​​​​​​​​​​​​Intro to Boxing  45-60min; DAYS & TIMES VARY:  SCHEDULE OR CALENDAR    ​  skill: Novice  1st time? BOOK HERE

Learn real boxing skills & drills technique used in Rookie Boxing and Boxing Workout classes, including: ​Hand Wrapping, Stance, Guard, Punches/Contact (Shadow Boxing, Mitts & Gloves, Heavy Bag), Footwork, Body Movement, Balance, Control, Breathing and other tips. This class is REQUIRED for all new boxers with little to no experience.  MAX 10-12 BOXERS PER SESSION. See trainer after class for next-step training recommendations.  Everyone learns the skills at a different pace. 

Skill Set Definitions

​​​​​Strength & Stretch  60min; Monday @ 5:30pm    skill: All Levels

The name says it all!  Strength - develop lean strength in all muscle groups via body weight and resistance-assisted sequences. Stretch - targeted stretches mixed throughout; full body stretch during warm-up and cool-down. Non-boxers welcome!

​​Level ​3 - Boxing Workout    60 min; 11 classes/week, Sun - Fri SCHEDULE OR CALENDAR  skill: Beginner & up  1st time? BOOK HERE

Boxing Workout is our flagship class and the next step after Intro to Boxing or Rookie Boxing. High-energy sessions using gloves, mitts and heavy bags within a partner-based skill development format. You'll learn challenging punch combos and speed, agility and power drills. Gain endurance and whole-body strength through boxing! Co-ed classes are taught to intermediate. NOVICE: start with Intro to Boxing. BEGINNERS with some training: start with Rookie Boxing

Intermediate
most boxers are here and take Boxing Workout comfortable with stance, punches & movement, a quick review of combos and ready to learn defense and graduate to Super Boxing


Advanced
Any session - self-directed, not much instruction needed, a regular at sparring practice, helpful training others

Non-Boxing Classes

Novice

first time boxer, little to no experience. Intro to Boxing classes will prepare you for the next level.


Beginner +

still learning the skill set and ready to prevail in Rookie Boxing or Boxing Workout with extra guidance from the trainers​

Level 5 - Open Training, Defense & Sparring  Friday @ 5:00-7:00pm skill: Intermediate +

Trainer will determine format based on mix of participants (ever-evolving focus) and is available for help and advice for the entire session

* Defense Drills: focus blocking, movement, angles, trading punches safely with trainer and other students - leads to sparring 

* Sparring: develop better defense skills via ring time with others. Comfortable with contact, protective gear and sparring waiver required

* Open Training: design your own workout! Any level ok (sparring not required), but be confident and self-directed with your boxing skills

Conditioning  ​30min; Tues & Thur @ 5:30pm     skill: All Levels 

Fast and efficient, Conditioning features cardio & strength intervals designed to develop endurance and core power in legs & abs and speed in arms & shoulders - a great addition to your Boxing Workout. Non-boxers welcome!
